Language of the evidences: A lot of our documents are in Dutch*. Do we translate these documents or do you have translators within your team?

There is no need to translate the entire document, but we would recommend you, if possible, to translate at least the part where social impact is described and mention which page and section corresponds to from the Dutch document. (you can use the Box below under the different social impact SIOR evaluates to this end) This is valid for any other language different from English

Funding agency: We have multiple agencies that have funded this project. Is it possible to put multiple agencies in the form? If so, could you please tell me how? If not, could you explain how to decide which agency to put in the form?

In this moment, SIOR only allows one funding agency, but we are working to expand the possibility to insert all funding sources used. For now, please consider the most relevant according your own criteria

PDF or LINK to evidences: Can we, instead of putting it in the text box, upload the documents (like pdfs) as proof? If so, how can we do this? In the form we can only put in links to websites.

We would recommend you to use the source/citation/link box below to briefly describe the social impact achieve and upload the links in the boxes you can find below and add as many evidences as you want. Our repository only registers links to evidences since they are easier to manage for users (uploading pdf implies data and privacy policies agreements that make the process more difficult for users). We would recommend you to upload all the pdfs on your university repository and add the link to SIOR. If you don't have this possibility, we could help you to upload the documents to Zenodo and create the links you need for SIOR.

% of Improvement achieved: What if we don't know what the exact situation was before our project was implemented?

The box below this item it is normally used for the case you mention. Please explain shortly the information you have and use the source/citation/link box to introduce evidence you may have.

Replicability: Our project focuses on different items, in many different cities. Should I count each city as a different context? It also focuses on different types items, do these count as different contexts?

The number of contexts refers to different realities where social impact has been achieved. If social impact has been achieved in 4 cities, there are 4 contexts. The same with the different types of items. For example: your project has demonstrated social impact in city A with item A’. Since the results showed your research success, after your project you register that these results have been also implemented (by other centers/institutions etc) in other cities and with other type of youth.

Project is over. No staff availability for introducing information regarding the project social impact

One of the advantages that SIOR offers to researchers that do not own staff resources to upload their project on our Repository is that you don't have to do it all at the same time. Introducing your project can be done step by step and it can be edited by you until you can gather all the information you need for the peer review

Why using SIOR: What advantages does SIOR offer?

The benefits for researchers and projects introduced are many. To highlight some:

  • the visibility of the social impact of the project and thus, contributing to more people could benefit from these results.
  • the assessment done by SIOR supposes a recognition of the social impact achieved, which allows to justify (as a résumé or CV) the ability of the research team to develop research with social impact for new research and funding proposals

How much does this collaboration cost?

SIOR is a non-profit initiative that comes out of the IMPACT-EV project funded by the 7th Framework Program and whose objective was to promote research with a social impact, through the evaluation of research projects.

Does it take long to introduce data?

The evaluation of the projects is based on indicators of social impact; the introduction of the projects is very simplified and oriented to present, beside basic information of the research project, data of these indicators of social impact.

What can I do with the evaluation SIOR provides?

Evaluation results are open access and through the collaboration of ORCID and Wikipedia, they can be linked and visibilized to a very diverse audience from funders, researchers or the general public.
